Ask your child to tell you about their favourite part. Yesterday was dress like a famous person to raise money for SEAS 4 Change our school's social justice club. The grade one students dressed up like pop stars and sports stars. There was even a soldier and ballerina in the mix. It was also world kindness day. We made cards that included a kindness tip and a positive message. We then secretly went around the school and taped our cards to the front of classroom doors. I heard that many teachers and students appreciated the kind surprise. In religion we are learning about bucket fillers and bucket dippers. We learned that everyone is carrying an invisible bucket. Your bucket holds your good feelings and thoughts about yourself. You feel happy when your bucket is full and sad when it is empty. You fill a bucket when you show love to someone, when you say or do something kind. When you make someone feel special, you are filling a bucket. But, you can dip from someone's bucket when you make fun of someone, when you say or do mean things or even when you ignore someone. Ask your child how they have filled a bucket today. Ideas from our class on how we fill and dip from each other's buckets. |
